Statement of Belief

What is a creedal church? It means we follow the beliefs of the early church leaders (Fathers) as defined by the Nicene Creed which was created in AD 381.

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen

We want to welcome you to
St. Mark's on the Plains Anglican Church REC

Message of Welcome

Greetings my friend!
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Philippines 1:2)
This verse opens the beginning of morning prayers in the Anglican, Book of Common Prayer.  It is also what we wish for you!  That you might know the grace and peace which can only come from a relationship which unites you with God the Father as revealed to us through our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is our prayer that you might see a small yet incomplete piece of heaven in us when you visit. God is not far away, but is, “Everywhere present and filling all things.”  Each Sunday morning Christ fills us as we receive the body and blood of Christ into ourselves.
If you agree with the Nicene Creed as stated above and are seeking to live a life honoring to Christ, then you are welcome to partake in all parts of our service.
If you have questions and would like to learn more, please come to our services and visit with us. We would be honored to share with you the fullness of life which we have found through a relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Thoughts from Father Tom and Tim.

‍What would we like for you to know about us and the Christian life?
  • Salvation is not an event but a process.
  • Church services and prayers are the foundation of our spiritual life.
  • The Bible was never intended to be understood apart from the direction of the church.
  • The Holy Spirit fully embodies every baptized believer which means God lives in you!
  • The potential for healing from past trauma and addictions is infinite.
  • It is a relationship with God that heals, not following rules.
  • Building a relationship with God requires effort.
  • A growing relationship with God leads to increasing personal purity.
  • A growing relationship with God leads to a loving church community.
  • A loving church community prays for each other and helps one another.
  • As a community matures the expression of spiritual gifts will come forward.
  • A mature relationship with God is essential for the expression of spiritual gifts.

What we stand for

Everyone has an opinion. Our understanding of who God is, cannot be “tossed to and for, carried about by every wind…” (Ephesians 4:14). In the midst of an ever changing world, how can we find certainty?

Our first authority is the Bible. As a church we must continue “…steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayers.”  (Acts 2:42).

But, there are many interpretations of scripture!  How do we know which one to follow?

We follow an understanding of the Bible as taught in the writings of the early church leaders (Fathers) who were closely related to the Apostles and came directly after them.  Their teachings of faith have lasted more than 2000 years since the time of Christ. The consistency of their faith as reaffirmed by the church over this great expanse of time has brought certainly to their directions to us.

The basis of our faith is encapsulated in the Nicene Creed. We also believe God is present in our daily lives and becoming united with His energies is the active process of our salvation.

God is light and love (1 John 1:5 & 4:8) and each person is uniquely created in God’s image. We must consciously choose to seek the light and love which God graciously offers to us. Actions which draw us away from God, the source of all light and love, are defined as “sin”. These actions bring chaos and destruction to our lives. We were not created for lives of disorder, but of peace, healing and service. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,” (Ephesians 2:10)

St. Mark’s is a community which is striving to become like Christ as understood in scripture through the teachings of the early church leadership. We welcome all to come and join us in our journey!
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Service Times

Meetings

God created you to have a relationship with Him. Without it, we are unable to know who we are or meant to be. But, our path to God was broken. Jesus Christ reopened the way for us to know God once again.  If you accept what Christ has done, God comes and lives within you!  These truths are expressed each time we come together as a church.

Our Services

Moving closer to God!

Understanding that Jesus Christ has provided a path for you to know God is only the first step.  The more you learn, the more receiving you become to God filling every part of your life with joy and peace through the work of His Spirit.  It is essential to be part of a community of believers which can provide you with encouragement and guidance.

Spiritual Growth

How can we help?

When life is hard, God will walk with you each step of the way.  But, having a community of believers on which you can rely for encouragement and guidance will provide you with hope.  God has called the people of St. Mark’s to be a light for you when your path is heavy and dark.  Take the first step by learning how we can assist you on your journey.

What we can do
